The growing number of derelict properties in Pill, brought about all manner of new problems for the long suffering Pill Community of the 1970s. Fires and vandalism, theft and a general feeling of languor prevailed. Many elderly people lived in constant fear as the lead and other semi valuables were ripped out of adjacent homes awaiting demolition.
